I contracted COVID in March 2020. It’s effects were devastating to both me and to my family. I lost April 2020, and merely functioned for many months to follow. Whilst I was lucky that I was able to work, it was a struggle and I reached the point in January 2023 where my life outside work was non-existent, I could hardly function to cook a meal after a day at work and my family life was suffering as a result. That was when a family friend and colleague told me about Binita and her work.
In March 2023, I met Binita and Julie. This was the point my life changed for the better. No longer was I labelled depressed, or menopausal; they understood I was clinically, physically ill. Alongside Binita’s medications, which have helped my physical symptoms, Julie has helped me rebuild my life by helping me to learn strategies to pace and manage my symptoms. They have helped me learn to be a new, better me. I can now think about driving a car for 2 hours to see my sister, and also enjoy being there after that drive. I can plan a day out with my children and not only enjoy the day, but function the following day. With their treatment and expert care, when the crashes happen, they are smaller in magnitude, fewer in frequency and shorter in duration.
Other members of the team have helped with the psychological trauma of my horrific experiences in Spring 2020. I am no longer afraid to go to crowded places. I no longer hide behind a mask for fear of catching COVID again. I am learning to live again and enjoy the life I have regained.
“Thank you” is such a small set of words, but they are words that only start to convey my feelings towards this wonderful group of people. My life, my husband’s life and my children’s lives are all the better for the outstanding care I have received.
