When my Covid was bad I felt so ill and didn’t know what was happening to me. I just kept getting worse and it wouldn’t end. My mum took me to the doctors lots, but they didn’t know how to help. They just watched me get worse like by standers watching a car crash. The illness got worse and slowly my whole world felt apart and I was stuck! Stuck, ill and scared. I couldn’t sleep so nights were the hardest of all. I was surprised when we went to the long covid clinic I thought they would be the same as the other doctors and they wouldn’t know what to do but they knew! They were seeing lots of kids like me and even more surprisingly they said they were getting better. That was good I thought I might not be stuck after all. It took a while but slowly and slowly I could do more and more, and I could begin to see my way out of it. I will still need a long time yet to fully recover but they have given me the knowledge I needed to help myself and the encouragement to believe it is possible. Mum and dad got support to know when to rest and when to encourage activity and other strategies to help me recover safely. I’ve got to know The Long Covid Clinic team really well. They are all so kind and care. They’ve helped me through the worst point of my illness supporting me towards recovery and I cannot thank them enough for their excellent care. I hope all of the other people who aren’t getting help find their way here so they too can find their way out and become unstuck.
