A and I both caught covid in mid March 2020 and realised we weren’t getting better and struggling with symptoms of severe fatigue, POTS and brain fog amongst other things. Despite being a Dr, and discussing with lots of other doctors, we felt very alone and unsure of what on earth to do. The NHS gave us a very mixed response, even in a specialist children’s long covid clinic – no 10 year old should know what medical gaslighting is, but she now does.
Finding Dr Kane, Dr Kushnood, Julie and Nadyne has been game changing and we now don’t feel alone. Julie has been so supportive, warm and knowledgeable and A has found her particularly reassuring and comfortable to talk to, having lost some trust in health care professionals from her previous experiences. Julie restored her trust, which is absolutely key to her being able to access healthcare going forwards.
Dr Kane and Dr Kushnood have gained a huge expertise in this field and are able to offer an understanding of symptoms and offer treatments to help symptoms. This includes experimental treatments which can feel scary, especially for children, and their reassuring manner and expertise is vital and hugely appreciated. They “get it”, they reassure that you aren’t going mad and help to undo some of the confusion that had been caused by previous bad experiences. This is so hugely important for everyone struggling with this condition. They also liaise with other experts to ensure that the most up to date information, science and treatments are shared and research continued.
Nadyne has been truly life-changing in her ability to understand the mind-body connection and her knowledgeable and compassionate approach is incredible.
Thank you to the whole team, including the people on the end of the emails, who are always kind, responsive and efficient. It is a great clinic service all round and an example of best practice.
