Many people are unaware that neurodevelopmental conditions such as ADHD and Autism can be associated with physical health differences, including hypermobility, dysautonomia, and mast cell activation. These overlaps are particularly relevant for individuals living with Long COVID.
To address this, the Long Covid Clinic has partnered with a specialist ADHD & Autism service that offers compassionate, clinician-led, and holistic assessment, diagnosis, and ongoing support for children, young people, and adults.
Neurodevelopmental assessments are available online or face-to-face at our clinics in Tunbridge Wells (Kent), Henley (Oxfordshire), and Windsor (Berkshire), making care as accessible and flexible as possible.
What makes this service different is simple: less siloed care and a stronger focus on the whole person. We consider the full neurodivergence spectrum alongside physical health conditions and mental health challenges, ensuring truly integrated support.
Our diagnostic reports meet national clinical guidelines and accredited quality standards. Each assessment includes multidisciplinary team (MDT) discussion and results in a personalised care plan, tailored to your or your child’s needs
We assess both children and adults for possible neurodevelopmental conditions. We also welcome individuals who already have a diagnosis and may be seeking safe and appropriate access to ADHD medication through our medication pathway.
Rather than relying on impersonal, checklist-based approaches, our assessments build a detailed neurocognitive profile for each person. This allows us to provide accurate diagnoses alongside meaningful, practical recommendations and personalised support.
Our service is led by highly experienced clinicians. Caroline is a Senior Clinician and Clinical Director with extensive experience in mental health and neurodiversity, including Cognitive Behavioural Psychology, Public Health, and clinical lecturing. Sarah is a respected Neurodevelopmental Specialist Doctor and GP, as well as a medical educator who regularly speaks at national conferences and has co-authored peer-reviewed medical articles on neurodiversity.
Our holistic screening assessment is the first step in understanding your or your child’s unique strengths and challenges. It includes:
Having completed our screening process, we will book you (or your child) for an ADHD assessment, an autism assessment, or a combined assessment. If we feel that another service would be more appropriate, we will explain this clearly and recommend an onward referral.
Following assessment, you will receive clear, practical, and individualised recommendations, which may include:
We offer post-diagnostic therapies delivered by clinicians who really understand the intersection between ADHD, Autism and physical health conditions. Our clinicians are BABCP-registered and understand potential interactions with medications used to treat Long COVID. Treatments are holistic including medication and integrative / neuro-affirmative CBT for both young people and adults.
Our ADHD medication titration pathway is carefully integrated with the physical healthcare you may already be receiving through the Long Covid Clinic. We aim to work collaboratively with NHS GPs to establish shared-care agreements and also offer an in-house private shared-care option where appropriate.
For existing Long COVID Clinic patients, the cost of a private ADHD or Autism assessment has been heavily discounted compared to the usual private assessment fee – please email the clinic for fees. Please note there will be a standard admin charge for the referral to the service from your Long COVID Clinic clinician.
No financial incentives are in place for The Long COVID Clinic, this is simply a clinical collaboration between the Long COVID Clinic and the ADHD/Autism service developed in the best interests of patients.
